Job Description
The Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring effective communications within our organisation. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Programmes, the Communications Manager will be the voice and storyteller of our organisation. You will be responsible for crafting compelling messages, managing media relations, and ensuring consistent branding across all channels. With your strategic thinking and creative flair, you will drive engagement and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
What you will be doing
Develop and implement strategic communication plans to support organisational goals and objectives.
Create and distribute engaging content for various communication channels, including websites, social media, press releases, newsletters, and impact materials.
Manage media relations, including cultivating relationships with media partners, pitching stories, and responding to media inquiries.
Oversee the production of Communications materials for various project, such as presentations, review and design of project reports, factsheets, toolkits and promotional materials, ensuring consistency and alignment with brand guidelines.
Monitor and analyse media coverage, social media metrics, and website traffic to measure the effectiveness of communication efforts and identify opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with internal teams, including programmes, operations, and executive leadership, to align communication strategies with our organisation’s objectives and priorities.
Serve as a spokesperson for the organisation, representing our brand and values in interviews, presentations, and public events.
Provide communications support for crisis management and issues management situations as needed.
Manage existing relationships with stakeholders and form new partnerships.
Experience, Knowledge and Technical Skills
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for NGYouthSDGs audiences and communication channels.
Experience in media relations, including pitching stories, developing press releases, and managing media inquiries.
Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management tools, content management systems, and analytics tools.
Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to work effectively in multicultural teams and multicultural environments.
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Diplomatic with strong interpersonal skills, and a high degree of cultural sensitivity.
Desired
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in communications, nonprofit, public relations, or marketing roles, with demonstrated success in developing and implementing communication strategies.
Proactive leader with excellent communication and relationship skills; demonstrating also the ability to prioritise and effectively manage competing work streams and deliverables.
Ability to use canva and video editing tools.
Ability to work independently with strong time management skills.
Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects.
