Summary of the Role
The Associate Education Manager will lead efforts to improve learning outcomes nationally while supporting states for the same, advocate for policy alignment, and drive innovation in Nigeria’s foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) space. This role combines technical expertise, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the effective integration of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) methodology into Nigeria’s education systems. The Associate Education Manager Nigeria forms part of the Country Management Team and reports directly to the Country Director. S/He oversees and supports a team to improve the work in the country. The position location is Abuja, Nigeria. The role will require travel within Nigeria and Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Improving Learning Outcomes (30%)
Provide expertise in learning theories and global best practices to adapt TaRL methodology to diverse Nigerian contexts.
Ensure alignment between program implementation and the latest evidence-based educational strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
Analyze learning outcomes data and develop actionable solutions to address identified challenges impacting learning outcomes.
Policy Advocacy (25%)
Advocate for the inclusion of remediation-focused policies within government systems to embed TaRL methodology into national and state curricula.
Lead efforts to review and adapt TaRL content to fit seamlessly within Nigeria’s diverse educational frameworks.
Program Support (20%)
Provide strategic leadership in aligning program goals with national and state education policies.
Support program teams to integrate TaRL programs into existing systems, ensuring alignment with and adherence to its core principles.
Build relationships with Nigerian government bodies and stakeholders to drive ownership and sustainability.
Problem-Solving and Innovation (15%)
Identify challenges in Nigeria’s FLN landscape and propose innovative, scalable solutions.
Foster collaboration among teams to ensure programs remain relevant, impactful, and adaptable to the evolving education context.
Create/contribute to building effective systems to enhance efficiency in programme implementation.
Leadership and Collaboration (10%)
Motivate and manage teams to deliver high-quality outcomes, ensuring capacity building and professional growth.
Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within teams and with external partners.
Key Competencies

Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree in education, International Development, or related fields (PhD/in view an advantage).
At least 6 years of experience in education program management or related roles.
Proven expertise in improving learning outcomes and driving policy change in educational contexts.
Familiarity with Nigeria’s education landscape, including its policies and curricula.
Strong project management, data analysis, and communication skills.
Experience working with donors, government agencies, policymakers, and researchers.
Strong skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Google Suite
