Key Duties & Responsibilities
S/he will oversee the operation and programmatic aspects of the project
S/he will lead the development and implementation of a WASH strategy in the immediate, short, medium, and long term.
S/he will manage the overall implementation of the WASH program to guarantee that scope, budget, time, and quality are by the different project specifications and Donor requirements.
S/he will lead the design process and WASH assessments and oversee compliance with Technical specifications for implementing the required WASH activities and services to guarantee the quality of the output and alignment with international and national standards and donor requirements.
S/he will manage and monitor technically and administratively the whole of the WASH team, ensuring that adequate and relevant capacity building is provided to the members of the team.
S/he will Mentor, coach, and manage the staff under supervision; evaluate performance and oversee the resolution of team conflicts.
S/he will represent the program in the WASH meetings and technical working groups to ensure that WASH activities are coordinated to avoid duplication, violation of national regulations, or contravention of operational agreements set by the humanitarian community at the country level.
S/he will ensure effective and active communication with all the stakeholders making sure that the relevant and necessary information is transmitted downstream to all the members of the WASH team promptly.
S/he will ensure all reporting requirements are met and prepare project reports, situation reports, program updates, etc., ensuring that all the project data and information is archived and shared appropriately.
S/he will ensure that the WASH program is driven by a sound Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning/Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) framework that leads to continuous improvement and fine-tuning of systems and processes.
S/he will support the development of knowledge products, sustainability plan, and exit plan.

Qualification
Candidates should have a Master’s Degree in Water Engineering or a related field of study
A Bachelor’s Degree in Water and Sanitation Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical engineering, or relevant fields is required, with a preference for a second-class upper as an added advantage.
S/he must be fluent in English.
Knowledge of Hausa and Kanuri Languages will be an added advantage
Experience:
A minimum of ten (10) years of working experience in a similar position in international donor-funded Water and Sanitation projects, preferably experience on USG-funded WASH Project(s)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work
Experience working in the North East, especially in Borno State, has an added advantage
S/he must have progressive experience in designing, managing, or implementing WASH programs
S/he must have a solid foundation in a broad range of WASH subjects preferred, including areas such as innovative sanitation, private sector engagement, water for the poor, tariff and cost recovery, hygiene promotion, operation and maintenance, institutional strengthening, governance, and sector reforms for communities, schools, and healthcare facilities.
S/he must have excellent communication and writing skills.
