Job Summary:
The Chief Finance Officer is a strategic partner and adviser to the MD/CEO on all finance-related strategy matters as they relate to budget management, financial management and control, treasury, tax management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, deal analysis and negotiations, investors relationships and the securing of new funding. S/he has the overall responsibility to ensure the company’s financial health and profitable growth.
Key Accountabilities:
The role holder will:
Provide leadership to the Finance, Account and Treasury Team and oversee the effective running of the function – with an eye to continuously developing and improving systems.
Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements in line with IFRS standards. Ensure the credibility of the Finance and Accounts team by providing timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis of the budget, financial trends and forecast.
General oversight control over all GL maintenance activities including regular GL and account proofs reviews.
Overseeing and ensuring satisfactory audits. Closure of significant audit findings working towards no significant audit findings for the company.
External stakeholder management- regulators, tax authorities, industry experts.
Be responsible for ensuring the risk and compliance management framework is embedded and operational and develop checks of internal controls to safeguard the organization’s financial assets, especially as the business become more complex. Responsible for identifying, assessing, and responding to ongoing and emerging risks to the organization, as well as ensuring internal compliance and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights for strategic initiatives, support business cases, market expansion, due diligence activities and inorganic growth, etc.
Identify sources of financing to expand the scope of company’s business opportunities. Supervises investments and raising capital for business.
Provide leadership in hiring and building the capability of the Finance and Account Team.
Manage and track company’s fund, assets and investments and periodically issue reports on its current as well as financial stability/condition.
Coordinate review of information systems and operational processes to identify area of revenue leakages and institutionalization of control to block leakages.
Education and Experience required:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Economics with a minimum of second-class division is required.
Professional qualifications such as: ACA, ACCA, CFA etc. are required.
Master’s degree in a finance related discipline is required.
A minimum of 15 years’ post-qualification experience with at least 10 years in a similar or a broad financial leadership role is required. At least two (2) years in corporate finance or investment banking type function will be an added advantage.
Proven record of success in a similar role or at a senior management level in a sector operating multi-units in multi-cities with over 100 locations/business units is required.
Previous experience in managing investor relations, fundraising, and regulatory engagements.
Experience in coordinating Go-live of Sage X3 or similar ERP is preferable. Proven track record of developing and executing financial strategies that drive business growth and profitability is required.
Experience in process improvement, change management, and performance management is required
Experience in delivering measurable success in similar fast-paced, dynamic work environments is required.
