At Noreta Constructions Limited, safety is a cornerstone of our commitment to delivering excellence in high-quality residential construction projects. We are seeking a Construction Safety Officer to spearhead our construction safety efforts and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. This role is pivotal in fostering a safe work environment and mitigating risks across all our project sites. The ideal candidate will be a proactive professional with a strong background in construction safety and a dedication to upholding industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Management System Development:
Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety management system tailored to all Noreta construction projects.
Site Safety Oversight:
Monitor all aspects of Noreta construction site safety, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and serving as the on-site expert for safety procedures and regulations.
Program and Compliance Review:
Evaluate and improve Noreta’s existing safety programs to align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA and Nigerian construction safety standards.
Risk Management and Protocol Development:
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop protocols to mitigate them.
Update safety protocols regularly based on site conditions and industry developments.
Site Inspections and Audits:
Perform regular inspections and audits of Noreta construction sites to identify and address safety concerns promptly.
Ensure all Noreta constructions tools, machinery, and equipment meet safety standards.
Safety Training and Awareness:
Develop and deliver safety training programs to educate Noreta employees on safety practices, procedures, and regulations.
Promote a culture of safety awareness among workers, sub-contractors and contractors.
Incident Recording and Reporting:
Document safety incidents, near misses, and concerns accurately.
Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, incidents, and corrective actions.
Regulatory Compliance and Evaluation:
Coordinate and oversee OSHA and other regulatory body evaluations and ensure compliance with their findings.
Focal Point for Safety:
Act as the primary point of contact for all Noreta safety-related matters, providing guidance and expert advice to management and site personnel.
Emergency Preparedness:
Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure site readiness in case of accidents or emergencies.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related fields.
NEBOSH, OSHA certification, or equivalent is highly desirable.
Minimum of 3 years in construction safety roles with a reputable building construction firm.
Familiarity with safety management systems, risk assessment tools, and incident reporting software.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple sites effectively.

Expertise in Safety Regulations: In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, Nigerian construction safety standards, and other relevant laws.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Proven ability to identify hazards and implement effective safety controls.
Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills to foster a safety-first culture and excellent communication to convey safety expectations clearly.
Analytical Skills: Capability to analyze safety data and trends to improve safety programs and reduce risks.
Training and Facilitation: Proficiency in designing and delivering engaging safety training sessions.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail for effective inspection, documentation, and compliance monitoring.
