Cost & Design Engineer

Job Description

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cost & Design Engineer to join their dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will play a critical role in both the cost estimation and system design aspects of our projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest standards of performance and sustainability.
This role requires a combination of engineering expertise, cost management knowledge, and a passion for renewable energy technologies.

Key Responsibilities
Design Support:

Collaborate with the engineering and project management teams to design renewable energy systems based on client specifications and project requirements.
Develop detailed system designs, including electrical schematics, layouts, and technical drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Perform technical analysis to determine the most cost-effective and efficient design solutions for each project.
Evaluate equipment options and integrate them into system designs, considering performance, reliability, and cost.

Cost Estimation:

Develop accurate and detailed cost estimates for renewable energy projects, including capital expenditures (CAPEX), operational costs, and ongoing maintenance expenses.
Analyze project budgets, identifying potential cost overruns or savings opportunities and recommending adjustments.
Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for materials, labour, and overhead costs associated with the installation and commissioning of renewable energy systems.
Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure cost-effective sourcing of materials and equipment.
Assist in the preparation of bids, proposals, and tenders, ensuring the accurate pricing of renewable energy projects.

Project Support and Optimization:

Provide technical support during project execution, including troubleshooting design issues and recommending solutions.
Assist in the preparation of project timelines and resource allocation plans to ensure the timely delivery of systems.
Perform ongoing analysis and reporting of project costs, identifying any areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities.
Participate in project review meetings, providing cost and design insights to optimize project performance and reduce costs.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

Ensure designs and cost estimations comply with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
Contribute to quality control processes to ensure designs meet high standards of reliability, performance, and safety.
Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to incorporate into designs and cost-saving strategies.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and project management, to ensure seamless project delivery.
Communicate design specifications, cost estimates, and project updates to internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
2 to 3 years experience within the renewable energy, power systems, or related industries.
Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g. AutoCAD).
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
