Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Head of Finance at Biosec Solutions in Abuja. The Head of Finance will oversee all financial aspects of the company, ensuring sustainable growth, financial health, and compliance. This role includes accounting responsibilities and involves strategic planning, financial operations, and fostering a strong financial foundation to scale the business.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Management:
Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
Prepare detailed budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support decision-making.
Provide insights and recommendations to the leadership team on financial performance and strategy.
Accounting and Finance Operations:
Oversee and manage all accounting activities, including:
Accounts payable and receivable.
Monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
General ledger management.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
Coordinate and manage external audits and liaise with auditors as needed.
Cash Flow and Treasury Management:
Monitor cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operations and growth.
Optimize working capital and investment of surplus funds.
Oversee payroll processing and compliance with tax requirements.
Tax and Complicance:
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations.
Prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time.
Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and incorporate necessary changes into company practices.
Cost Control and Optimization
Analyze and report on operational costs to identify efficiency opportunities.
Work with department heads to manage budgets and control expenses effectively.
Investor Relations and Fundraising
Prepare financial materials for investor presentations and funding rounds.
Manage relationships with investors and stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication.
Lead due diligence efforts during fundraising and M&A activities.
Risk Management
Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective policies and controls.
Develop contingency plans for financial emergencies or downturns.
Technology and Systems
Implement financial software and tools to enhance efficiency and reporting.
Collaborate with IT teams to budget for technical infrastructure and resources
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or professional qualifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, ACCA) preferred.
7+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in startups or the tech industry.
Proven track record in fundraising, investor relations, and financial modeling.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, compliance standards, and financial regulations.
Experience with financial software and ERP systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong leadership abilities and experience managing cross-functional teams.
Good communication and presentation skills.
