Job Purpose:
The Designated Person Ashore (DPA), as required by the ISM Code and the Company’s policies, is responsible for the monitoring of the Safety and Pollution prevention aspects of the operation of the managed vessels and for ensuring the development and monitoring the implementation and documentation of the IMS.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
General Responsibilities
The DPA has defined roles, responsibilities and authority to:
Ensure the safe operation of each ship.
Provide a link between the Company and those onboard.
Monitor the HSQE aspects of the operation of each ship.
Ensure that adequate resources and shore-based support are available, as required.
Monitor and manage the IMS.
Qualifications
Qualifications and seagoing experience as a certified ship officer (Master or Chief Officer) pursuant to the STCW, as amended.
Other formal education combined with not less than 3-years practical senior level experience in ship management operations in a renowned Shipping Company.
Certification in DPA training is preferred.
Proven experience in the implementation of Management Systems in Shipping.
Possess good knowledge of National and International shipping legislation and best practices.
Must have a good command of English language.
Skilled organizer and with abilities to convince and motivate people.
Competent in the use of Computers.
