Job Purpose
The Head of Impact will lead the design, implementation, and communication of CcHUB’s impact strategy at both micro (Practice and Project) and macro (CcHUB’s social impact) levels. This individual will ensure that our initiatives deliver measurable outcomes and align with our mission to accelerate the application of social capital and technology for Africa’s economic prosperity. The role encompasses monitoring and evaluation (M&E), impact storytelling, and crafting narratives that demonstrate our value to stakeholders, funders, and the broader ecosystem.
This role requires expertise in modern impact assessment methodologies such as the Theory of Change, the Logical Framework Approach, Outcome Mapping, Most Significant Change, Social Return on Investment, Developmental Evaluation, Participatory Evaluation, Attribution, and Contribution, as well as proficiency in stakeholder engagement and contemporary impact evaluation tools.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
Design and implement organization-wide and Practice-based impact measurement frameworks and MEL systems.
Establish metrics to track performance and outcomes for projects, programs, and investments.
Develop tools, templates, and processes for consistent data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Develop feedback loops from MEL findings to inform and adapt project design and organizational strategy
Train teams to ensure the effective adoption of M&E methodologies.
Impact Storytelling and Reporting
Transform data insights into compelling narratives that highlight the organization’s achievements, segmenting to fit various stakeholder types, e.g., funders, board, ecosystem, and general public.
Develop and publish case studies, annual impact reports, and visual storytelling assets.
Collaborate with communications and design teams to create multimedia materials (e.g., videos, infographics).
Leveraging impact data to advocate for systemic changes or to influence policies within innovation ecosystems by representing CcHUB at conferences, workshops, and events, articulating our impact story to diverse audiences.
Organizational and Ecosystem Impact Strategy
Shape and refine CcHUB’s overarching impact strategy, ensuring alignment with our organizational strategy, Pan-African approach and global best practices.
Lead cross-departmental collaboration to integrate impact goals into strategic planning processes.
Oversee and manage the financial and human resources allocated to impact initiatives
Analyze ecosystem trends to identify opportunities for greater societal impact.
Partner and Stakeholder Engagement
Work with funders, investors, and partners to align impact reporting with their requirements.
Build partnerships with academic institutions, research bodies, and global networks to advance CcHUB’s impact agenda.
Qualifications
Educational Background
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Data Science, or related fields.
Certifications in Monitoring and Evaluation, Impact Measurement, or related fields required
Certifications in advanced data analytics tools or methodologies, or proficiency in programming languages for data analysis (e.g., Python, R) are a plus
Experience
Minimum of 10 years in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation and impact assessment, frameworks in the development, innovation, or entrepreneurship ecosystems; at least 3 of these years in a management/leadership role.
Experience working across multiple domains, including Edtech, Healthtech, Creative Economy, and Sustainable Tech.
Demonstrated expertise in delivering Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning activities for donor-funded programs
Ability to mentor organizations on using data to inform decision-making
Skills and Abilities
Strong qualitative data analysis skills
Strong analytical and data visualization skills; familiarity with tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to translate data into impactful narratives.
Proven ability to manage diverse teams and foster collaboration across functions.
Knowledge of innovation ecosystems, startup support processes, and investment landscapes in Africa.
Expertise in participatory impact evaluation and collaborative design of MEL frameworks
Strong intercultural awareness and cultural awareness and adaptability to diverse Pan-African ecosystems.
Strong understanding of global SDGs and their intersection with innovation and entrepreneurship.
Ability to explore and pilot innovative technologies for impact measurement and reporting
